Releasing Trauma from the Body with TRE

How to de-stress with bioenergetics

What I am writing about today may very well be the most potent form to release stress, or trauma, from our bodies I have encountered so far.

…and, experimenting with energy medicine for many ears, I thought I already have quite impactful tools at hand.

So, what is that magical thing?

TRE has crossed my path a few times in the last years, but I haven’t consciously acknowledged the signs, so all I knew for years was, that TRE is an efficient way to release trauma that is stored in the body with easy exercise. It’s a consciously introduced shaking that frees tension and trauma through rapid movement of the body- like animals do as well when they have experienced stress by being chased, for example.

But I felt no need to try that out - there wasn’t any trauma, I was aware of, that would have needed to be removed.

Hmm.

Well, fast forward a few years later. Not only the pandemic, but also a lot of stress from work and some quite persistent health challenges mixed together and I felt miserable in the last weeks. So low energy and also low mood, I almost didn’t recognized myself.

Fortunately, the universe sent me a very clear sign and TRE popped up again.

And wow.

I am writing this after my first trial, so I am in no way expert. But as an expert for my own body, I am blown away by the impact just one session had on my overall feeling and level of ease. I definitely am hooked - for myself - and felt such a strong calling to share about that, that I am now sitting here, typing into my keyboard fast in the middle of the night.

What, you might ask, is it that is so impressive about TRE?

For one, it is about the intensity of the stress relief; its also about a strong presence in the body during the exercise and about the fact that it is not at all important to know what trauma it is that you are releasing.

My guides tell me, it is not even important to know at all about any trauma you may have had, in this lifetime or another - so you can bypass the logical mind completely and still free yourself from a trauma, even if you havent been able to identify it at all.

This is not to say anything about getting to know yourself better, about talk therapy with a friend, a coach or a psychologist.

What I find remarkable is that TRE has the ability to work with issues we haven’t been able to talk about at all.

Our bodies are so wise, they do know what memory is stored in what place, and also when to let go of which one - given the opportunity.

To dive deeper into, I invite you to watch this video by David Berceli, the founder of TRE.

If you are still reading, it is a sign that you, as well, could do well with releasing some old stuff from your physical body.

So, how?

As I mentioned, I am no expert, so I will just summarize what I learned so far and link to some videos of experts, who have far more experience in guiding you through a TRE session.

  • You are always in control, even if your body moves seemingly uncontrollably. With coming out of the position, you can, at any time, stop the shaking and therefore come back to control of your body movements. Your mind is clear, so no loss of control there either, if you might have asked yourself.

  • Loosing control is not a bad thing at all, but maybe it is of comfort to you, that you do not have to give it up unwillingly to try out these exercises.

  • Do it at home: there are group sessions available as well, but you can easily do the exercises at home. You do need minimal space (the size of a yoga mat and a piece of wall or a closed door to lean on) and no equipment. A yoga mat is nice fore laying down more comfortable, but a carpet would also do.

  • Quick: you decide how long you want to do the exercises, typically it is about 15-30 minutes.

  • Mental release comes with the physical. Although I just wrote that you do not need to be aware of what trauma you want to release - the act of releasing makes your mind calm. So the relaxation of your physical body that comes after finishing the exercise is affecting your emotional and mental body as well. I felt amazingly light, free of urgency or pressure, and completely calm in my mind after the session. You can compare this feeling to the one you might have after a long run or yoga lesson.

Maybe you now are curious and about to try it out yourself.

Or decide to do any other form of selfcare - whatever it is that makes you feel good, I wish you a wonderful experience!

Much love,

Anna
